Learn more about the History and Principles of the Suzuki Method ®

Students as young as 3-months old are accepted in the Suzuki for Babies and Parents class as preparation for learning any instrument. Violin instruction can begin as early as the third birthday, depending on the child’s readiness. Every child is different and has his or her own way of indicating when the time is right.

As when a child begins to talk, Suzuki parents are involved in the musical education of their child. Parents work with the teacher to create an enjoyable learning environment, especially at home, so that much of the child’s motivation comes from wanting to do what the parents are so excited about.

Parents attend lessons with their child and serve as “home teachers” during the week. They supervise practicing, making sure the student does exactly as the teacher instructed.  Every parent will learn to play the violin before the child, to better understand what the child is expected to do.

OBSERVATION

Parents interested in registering their children are encouraged to watch what the Suzuki method entails for free!  Attend one of many concerts and/or recitals, and observe anothe student's private lesson. I will try to select a student of a similar age and skill level to give you a better idea of what to expect, hopefully ensuring that this is the right program for you and your family.   Click here to schedule a FREE observation!

PRIVATE LESSONS

Once you are assigned a weekly lesson schedule, all parents have between four to eight private or group parent trainning lessons without their children. No previous musical experience is necessary, expected or required. You will be introduced to the Suzuki Philosophy, learn how to become your child’s teacher at home, learn the basic principles of violin playing as well as how to tune the instrument. These sessions are extremely important for the success of your child’s future musical experience. Parents will then actively participate in their child's lessons.

RECITALS AND CONCERTS

All students, regardless of age and level, are welcome to participate in Solo Recitals throughout the year. Beginning students are encouraged to attend Group Concerts at all times, and at the appropriate time will also be participating.

PARENT CONFERENCES

Private Parent Conferences are held often to assure that the most important person (your child) is learning and developing all the skills necessary for his or her level. These two selected weeks during the school year give parents an excellent opportunity to share their concerns and their accomplishments.
Keeping and giving parents support is essential for the success of this program.

SUMMER LESSONS

When the regular session ends, your child can continue developing skills during the summer!  Lessons are offered every year between June and August, and you may sign up for private lessons once or twice a week.

A full year’s commitment from the parent will be necessary to register. There is a non-refundable registration and full semester payment required for new students prior to the beginning of lessons. Registration is open year round as long as space is available.
