Suzuki for Babies & Parents

WHERE

"Every child Can Learn"

“The baby is born. Does he start to say ‘Mama’ the next day? For months he just listens”

The Suzuki Method for Babies and Parents follows the principle of Dr. Sinichi Suzuki’s  approach where “ a child’s education should start 9 months before birth!"  Research has proved an early introduction to music can improve critical thinking and many other skills to be developed later in life.

The Suzuki Method Baby class exposes children to the highest quality of music! Teachers are highly trained classical musicians who undergo many years of additional training specifically to teach this class!  Children have fun moving to music, playing percussion instruments, and listening to high quality classical music performed by other children, bringing their relationship even closer.

This class is designed for newborns to 4 years old and their parents or grandparents.  It provides early education to prepare pre-kindergarten not only for playing an instrument but also for their future education as a whole.

Class Description

Our first recommendation is to listen to our cd with your child before coming to the first class. Becoming familiar with the sounds and rhymes will make both of you feel right at home from the beginning!  Listening is the homework every week.  Dr. Suzuki believed that just like learning a language, one must listen first to then speak.

Rather than promising that a child will learn hundreds of songs, our curriculum comprises approximately 20 songs, divided bi-weekly. Children love repetition and that’s how they learn their first words, repeating “mom” and “dad” millions of times. We never say, "Stop saying that!  Let’s move to another word."  Rather we encourage them to repeat that as many times as possible..

The class always starts with a “sharing activity” where children are encouraged to interact with their classmates. Environment is everything.  Nothing needs to be said. Just seeing other children share is enough.

It is not necessary to purchase any instruments!  Children take turns trying the different percussion instruments with the teacher who will assure your toddler is playing correctly.  Encouragement comes from all in the class! This builds confidence and also teaches them to learn by taking turns.

Our class always end with an introduction to counting in several different languages followed by story time.  It’s never too early to start reading to a baby.  Finally every class has a performance called “From Children To Children.” Babies and toddlers are exposed to several different instrumvents in a intimate concert setting.

Suzuki Method for Babies and Parents is held on selected Saturday Mornings in the Clarence/Williamsville area.
